PULL/DRIFT: In the Slipstream

Gallery CA will present a collection of photographs, video, and film from the sculpture-dance performance Pull/Drift – a collaboration between choreographer Clarissa Gregory and sculptor Joshua Wade Smith. For six months, Baltimore photographers/filmmakers Liz Donadio, Carr Kizzier, and Margaret Rorison documented the evolution and execution of this site-specific performance, and in this exhibition will share their personal visions of the Pull/Drift process, an immersive “experiment in movement, rhythm, and ritual.”

Director & Choreographer – Clarissa Stowell Gregory
Sculptor – Joshua Wade Smith
Additional Choreography– Jenny Berkowitz, Lily Susskind, and input from the dancers
Cinematography – Liz Donadio, Carr Kizzier, Margaret Rorison
Dancers – Jenny Berkowitz, Sarah Fask, Danielle Fistner, Hannah Friedland, Clarissa Gregory, Corey Hennessey, Amy Reid, Erin Reid, Christine Stiver, Lily Susskind, Rebecca Tischman
Costume Designer – Stephanie Santos

Post-Production Video Editor for 5minute promo video – Maggie Schneider
Flag Designer & Lead Guide – Graham Coreil-Allen

The project is supported by “Best of Baltimore” dance company Effervescent Collective and friends. Their site-specific performance took place Sunday, September 8th at Patapsco Valley State Park’s Daniels Area. “At an arm’s reach from the city, the 45-minute experiment in movement, rhythm, and ritual created a reflective space for performers and audience alike, releasing a collective exhalation on one of the last perfect late summer afternoons.”

The opening for Pull / Drift: In the Slipstream is Friday, December 6th from 6-9pm and runs December 6th 2013 - Jan 10th 2014 at Gallery CA. Gallery hours are Monday – Friday from 12 – 4pm or by appointment (410) 528 - 9239.
