Ways of Seeing
Gallery CA
June 7 – July 20, 2019
Opening Reception: Friday, June 7, 6-9pm
Ways of Seeing is an exhibition co-curated by Anil Lewis and Sarah McCann that invited artists to
submit work that can be “seen” through all five senses. The exhibition questions the meaning of seeing,
how people experience the world and the ways in which they work to understand, particularly those with
a different experience. Curators that are both blind and sighted worked directly with artists who created
new work for the exhibition. The exhibition will be accessible to blind and sighted audiences, providing
an opportunity for an immersive art experience.
Ways of Seeing will be on view June 7 - July 20, 2019 at Gallery CA, a contemporary arts space devoted
to showcasing local, regional, national and international artists located at: 440 E. Oliver Street,
Baltimore, MD 21202. Gallery hours are Monday - Friday 12-4pm and by appointment.
Artists included are: Luanne Burke (CO), Jenny Callahan (CO), Cindy Cheng (MD), Del Hardin Hoyle
(NY), Sallah Jenkins (MD), Dominic Terlizzi (MD), David Ubias (PA), Michael A. Williams (TN),
Marguerite Woods (MD), and George Wurtzel (TN).
The exhibition is supported by a Creative Baltimore Fund Individual Artist Grant, Baltimore Office of
Promotion & the Arts, Maryland State Arts Council Creativity Grant Program and 75 individuals who
backed a Kickstarter campaign. In addition, WayAround will be adding accessible information about
